Words like “haunting,” “mysterious,” and “hypnotic” are often used to describe throat- (or “overtone”) singers. Hailing from Nunavut, the polar-capped regions of Northern Canada, the compelling post-modern Inuit phenom Tanya Tagaq adds a new term to the lexicon: “sensuality.” Stew and collaborator Heidi Rodewald send Broadway’s greatest hits through the experimental dance crazy filter of their twisted, rock-addled minds in an evening of flash, brash, and monstrous mash-ups.(Source)

Tanya Tagaq is presented in collaboration with Americas Society and Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
