Dominating polls and celebrated with jazz’s most prestigious awards, Iyer combines the intriguingly complex mind of a modern music composer with the adroit touch akin to the legendary pianists of jazz. Leading the city’s jazz renaissance, his style has been noted for making challenging music immediately enjoyable. Iyer is joined by Graham Haynes (trumpet), Mark Shim (tenor saxophone), Rudresh Mahanthappa (alto sax), Stephan Crump (bass) and Marcus Gilmore (drums).

Sound Bites Series with My Teenage Stride

Veterans of the NYC indie pop scene, My Teenage Stride remain one of the most tuneful, clever bands in the city. The band’s last album, Ears Like Golden Bats, made many Best of 2007 lists and followed it up with string of great singles and EPs. My Teenage Stride are wrapping up work on a new album as we speak. We can’t think of a better way to start this year’s series.

River to River and Trinity Wall Street collaborate with Harvestworks to present this concert as part of Harvestworks’ third bi-annual New York Electronic Art Festival. This concert will feature Satoshi Takeishi presenting “Whirlpools” and Bora Yoon performing “The Body Electric”.

Bora Yoon is a 2010 Artist Fellowship recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). This presentation is co-sponsored by Artists & Audience Exchange, a NYFA public program, funded with leadership support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
