Muhamadou draws on this millennium-old practice to lead Jaliya Kafo as he infuses tradition with modern-day Afro-Jazz. This gifted performer has graced the stages of the Apollo, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Presented in collaboration with Bronx Council on the Arts saluting the 20th anniversary of BRIO*. www.bronxarts.org

*Since its inception in 1989, BRIO awardees are selected based solely on the artistic excellence of the work submitted and judged anonymously by a panel of professional artists (different panelists each year) from outside the Bronx and working in each respective field. The Bronx has the unique distinction of being the only borough in New York City to have its own ongoing fellowship awards for artists.(Source)
