For Tiga Jean Baptiste, music is a family tradition. At a young age, this eclectic artist began drumming at various events in Haiti with his father Bonga, master of the Haitian drum. With the help of famed Haitian Jazz saxophonist Thurgot Theodat, Tiga soon began to master a variety of Haitian wind instruments, as well as the Australian didjeridoo, and the Mbira from the Shona people of Zimbabwe.

Staying true to his Haitian roots, Tiga has worked with many of Haiti’s most respected artists, including Emeline Michel, Jean-Paul Bourelly and Bonga. He has also successfully ventured outside of tradition, performing with artist from Zimbabwe: Thomas Mapfumo, Stella Chiweshe, Chiwoniso Maraire. Also has performed with Grammy award John Legend, and Grace Jones.
