THE AUSSIE BBQ highlights some of the most exciting iconic and emerging talent from Australia, returning to SummerStage in Central Park. This year’s show features 1300, a raucous bilingual Korean-Australian rap collective taking Australia by storm, crafting infectious glitchy club tracks that have drawn comparisons to Brockhampton; Amy Shark, the singer-songwriter whose track Adore went 5× Platinum and featured on Schitt’s Creek and The Bold Type. She has released songs with Keith Urban and Ed Sheeran and collaborated with The Chainsmokers and Travis Barker; Budjerah, the First Nations singer-songwriter named Breakthrough Artist at the 2021 ARIA Music Awards recently opened for Vance Joy on stages throughout Europe and Ed Sheeran on his Australian tour. He was included in YouTube’s Black Voices Class of 2022; inspired by his Sikh & Punjabi roots, hip-hop artist L-FRESH the LION has performed for audiences across India on MTV Hustle, addressed the United Nations in New York City, and been an ambassador for YouTube’s Creators for Change global initiative; Peach PRC, a queer candy-coated pop singer with a rabid following on TikTok who Paris Hilton professed to be her pre Grammy’s hype girl; and Spiderbait, the seminal alt-rock trio who had breakout hits in the early aughts with Calypso, Buy Me a Pony their cover of Lead Belly’s “Black Betty”.
