Rhye, Natalie Prass, Overcoats

From a mysterious studio project to sold-out shows, RHYE has expanded their downtempo R&B sound with a sprawling live band, and performances that now stretch “into extended jam sessions that touched on everything from the irrepressible soul-funk of Curtis Mayfield to late ’60s psychedelic soul bands like Vanilla Fudge and Rare Earth.” (Billboard) Bandleader Mike Milosh had released several electronic records under the name Milosh before the first Rhye singles appeared anonymously online. His swooning falsetto and spacious arrangements earned comparisons to Sade and The xx, and the internet was abuzz with speculation about the tracks’ origins. The debut record that ensued was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Prize, and a band was born. Come bask in the sexy, sultry sound of a band on the cutting edge of modern R&B.

They are joined by the “slow neo-soul simmer” (Stereogum) of singer-songwriter NATALIE PRASS, whose eponymous debut was produced by Matthew E. White and earned Best New Music on Pitchfork. And the night kicks off with the “magnetic harmonies” (Billboard) of New York City electro-folk duo OVERCOATS.
