The Manhattan skyscrapers surrounding Damrosch Park will reverberate with the distinctive bravado and brilliance of Mozart’s music at this free outdoor concert ushering in the 50th Mostly Mozart Festival. Louis Langrée and the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra open the evening with “engaging new violin star” Simone Porter (Cincinnati Enquirer), a 19-year-old Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient who is a perfect fit for the G-major violin concerto, with its youthful blend of charisma and playful arrogance. The orchestra then climbs to the summit of Mozart’s symphonic output with the perennially rousing “Jupiter” Symphony.
