Mesiko

David Marshall, Ray Rizzo and Raquel Bell started playing together as Mesiko in late 2011. Mesiko shows have happened all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, and at such places as The Lebowski Fest in Louisville, KY, The Mohawk in Austin, TX, and Montreal’s Jazz Fest. Mesiko has played on bills with with The Inner Banks, Jolie Holland, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Corporal, The Defibulators, Alana Amram, Mucca Pazza, Dawn Landes, Shy Hunters, Trixie Whitley and Catherine Irwin. Mesiko hosts live musical events for the community at the People’s Garden in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and has made appearances at the Motherlodge Festival in Louisville, Kentucky which was created by Mesiko’s drummer Ray Rizzo.

MESIKO’s first full length studio album, Solar Door, is the outcome of vigorous songwriting from the band and the collective accomplishment of a dedicated production team who set out to make something truly special. It was produced by Sam Cohen (Yellowbirds/Apollo Sunshine) and engineered at his studio, LaLaLand, by Kevin Ratterman (Jim James/Andrew Bird/My Morning Jacket/Maserati) with special appearances by Louisville and New York City musicians.
