Trained as an opera singer before turning to jazz, Brooklyn-based artist Melanie Charles has been making waves with her voice and versatility. Deemed “one of the most dynamic vocal pipes ever witnessed” by KariJazz, Charles can channel Nina Simone and Nancy Wilson as well her Haitian roots in one rousing and unequivocally unique concert. She has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center and on Saturday Night Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and collaborated with artists such as SZA, Jean Grae, and the Gorillaz.
