Max Hatt and Edda Glass

Until recently, Max Hatt / Edda Glass had been hiding out in Montana playing Bossa Nova. They emerged suddenly in 2014 to play their original music at Lincoln Center, where they won the grand prize at the NewSong Competition and generally defied categorization. This year sees them perform at Sundance Film Festival’s ASCAP Music Cafe, NPR’s Mountain Stage, and in concert at Lincoln Center. NewSong Recordings will release their new album this fall, produced by Pat Sansone of Wilco and The Autumn Defense and recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, North Carolina.

They have this to say about their music: “We’re interested in stories. How a melody comes home soundly to a place it didn’t grow up. How a major chord troubles your sleep with minor insinuations. How we look to the horizon, no matter how wide the plain between us.”
