Light Minutes Away Showcase

00pm Lorena Vargas http://lorenavargasmusic.com Vocalist and songwriter Lorena Vargas makes music to connect on a deeper level, to reach out and touch a part of someone’s life that’s been hidden and buried. “Music is nostalgic: I want to make you feel something real.”

20pm – Cassandra Sun www.cassandrasun.com Cassandra Sun is the joining of a Michigander rhythm section for hire, a math guitar visionary from Moscow and a Brooklyn native singer-songwriter in the creation of an eclectic brand of pop-oriented rock incorporating furious, prog-influenced drumming, bass as a counterpoint composition, and textured, rhythmic guitar.

15pm – Letters to Nepal www.letterstonepal.com Letters to Nepal is a fusion of airy rhythmic guitars, crystal and serene vocal, elegant chords, rich bass lines and atmospheric progressive synths. A band with “uncanny knack for developing the scope in the sound”.

15pm – OLYA www.olyamusic.net Brooklyn-based OLYA is cranking out a sound that is as intimate as Lucius and as bold and brash as electro-pop darlings Chvrches. Performing in both English and her native Russian, she “makes her mark on synth-pop world with one of the most unique takes on the genre yet.”

15pm – Satorii www.facebook.com/satoriiband You’ve just found the soundtrack to your life! Taking our influence from drum n’ bass, dub, and house, Satorii takes the best of today’s electronic music (uplifting, contemplative and sensual lyrics, beautiful melodies, driving rhythms, fast and slow tempos) and fuses it with live drums, guitar and vocals. Truly this is music for the modern lifestyle! 11:15pm – Carbon Mirage www.carbonmirage.com Carbon Mirage’s sound is a collision of rock and jazz. With influences ranging from Radiohead to Miles Davis each track moves in dynamic waves, and always manages to get people on their feet.
