Kid Capri

Few DJs can make the legitimate claim that they began spinning records to the delight of block party crowds while they were still in elementary school. This aptly applies, however, to Kid Capri (David Anthony Love, Jr.), today one of the most storied disc jockeys to ever come out of the Bronx. His career truly took off in the ‘70s, as he began to receive heaps of adulation for his whirlwind Studio 54 sets. Keeping in the limelight, he would go on to deejay seven seasons of Def Comedy Jam. His first LP was released in 1991, the rousing hip-hop explosion The Tape. In 1997, Kid Capri began touring across the globe with Puff Daddy and the Family, and would soon after release 1998’s Soundtrack to the Streets. Over the years, the Kid would add a massive list of credentials to his resume. He has appeared in films, television shows, concerts and stage performances of all manners, including an appearance at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, alongside Madonna on her MDNA tour, and with Jennifer Lopez (another superstar from the BX) at her Planet Hollywood residency in Vegas. Check out Capri’s latest release (his first in 20 years) Top Tier, featuring the very best of today’s battle rap.
