Candice Hoyes’ recent independently-released debut album, On a Turquoise Cloud, climbed to #10 on the American Jazz charts and was selected “one of the best albums of 2015” by SoulTrain.com. A classically-trained vocalist, Hoyes has performed in six languages, and has performed as a soloist at international festivals as well as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
Hoyes’ diverse interests continue to inspire unique opportunities to share her music. Hoyes and the Ulysses Owens Jr. Quintet recently shared music from her album in “Celebrating Ellington and Beyond” at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. In the fall of 2016, Hoyes will return to share a new program as both vocalist and co-producer at Jazz at Lincoln Center. She was one of the featured vocalists in WNYC’s live broadcast, “Sinatra at 100.” She was also recently honored to perform for Sec. Hillary Clinton on the trail of her 2016 presidential campaign. Designer Charles Harbison included music from her album in his 2016 New York Fashion Week HARBISON presentation, inspiring The Washington Post’s Robin Givhan to note her as “a smart girl…who can inspire, inform and critique” Harbison’s creative process. Hoyes was featured in BET’s 2016 “Black Girl Power” article as they celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Black Girls Rock. She has performed music from the album and given a talk on the album at University of California at Berkeley’s Music Department, Harvard Club of New York, and other schools nationwide.
