American Composers Orchestra

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) is the only orchestra in the world dedicated to the creation, performance, preservation and promulgation of music by American composers. Founded in 1977, ACO pursues a singular mission by maintaining an unparalleled range of activities including concerts, Commissions, Recordings, Educational programs, New music reading sessions.

JACK Quartet

Comprised of violinists Christopher Otto and Ari Streisfeld, violist John Pickford Richards, and cellist Kevin McFarland, the JACK Quartet commissions new works from leading composers. JACK was recently awarded Lincoln Center’s Martin E. Segal Award, New Music USA’s Trailblazer Award, and the CMA/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming.

DM Stith

Singer/songwriter DM (David) Stith began writing and recording his own songs at age 25. The first fruits of his labor come in ‘Ichabod and Apple’ and next in the 2009 album ‘Heavy Ghost,’ which garnered critical attention. He has toured with Sufjan Stevens and released the 2013 album ‘Scorpio Little Devil’ as one half of the band The Revival Hour.

The Crossing

The Crossing is a 24-member professional chamber choir conducted by Donald Nally and dedicated to new music. The Crossing performed with American Composers Orchestra at Zankel Hall in 2014 as part of the Orchestra Underground program. The choir is the recipient of two ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming.

Andy Akiho

Described as “mold-breaking,” “dramatic,” and “vital” by The New York Times, Andy Akiho is an eclectic composer and performer of contemporary classical music. Recent engagements include commissioned premieres by the New York Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra and Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble ACJW. He was the recipient of the 2014 American Composers Orchestra Underwood Emerging Composers Commission.

Judd Greenstein

Judd Greenstein is a composer of structurally complex, viscerally engaging works for varied instrumentation. A passionate advocate for the independent new music community across the United States, Judd’s philosophy as both a composer and a curator involves the creation and promotion of music that is an organic blend of multiple styles, sounds, and instruments, open to all influences.

Alex Mincek

Alex Mincek is a New York-based composer and performer. He is currently the saxophonist, bass clarinetist, and artistic director of the Wet Ink Ensemble, a group dedicated to contemporary music, which he founded in 1998. Mincek’s music has been programmed at venues and international festivals including Carnegie Hall, Miller Theatre, Strasbourg Musica Festival, Unerhörte Musik in Berlin, the Contempuls Festival in Prague, and more.

Angélica Negrón

Puerto Rican-born composer and multi-instrumentalist Angélica Negrón writes music for accordions, toys and electronics as well as chamber ensembles and orchestras. Her music has been performed at the Bang on a Can Marathon and the Ecstatic Music Festival. Angélica is the 2014-2015 Van Lier Fellow at American Composers Orchestra.
