Founded by downtown jazz and blues vocalist Dean Bowman and world-class guitarist Gary Lucas, Chase the Devil explores gospel hymns, Jewish liturgical music, Sufi qawwali, and other varieties of praise music. Drawing inspiration from spiritualists such as William Blake, Blind Willie Johnson, Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan, and Shlomo Carlebach, Bowman and Lucas lend raw, unfiltered soul to familiar themes and melodies.
