“Little Bird” is the moniker Jimmy Heath is affectionately known as since the late 1940’s after being influenced by Charlie Parker and switching to the tenor saxophone. Mr. Heath had gone on to work with many jazz greats including Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Howard McGhee, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Milt Jackson, Ahmad Jamal, Ray Charles, Dexter Gordon and many more. Jimmy Heath had also know for the legendary Heath Brothers which included his brother’s Percy Heath on bass and Albert Heath on drums. Mr. Heath is also a music professor at Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in the City University of New York. He has dedicated a lot of his time to his love of jazz and has given a lot back to the jazz community.
