the Baltic, Adeline Hotel, Plain Dogs

The young guys in The Baltic sound as though they’ve absorbed the expansive spirit and introspective sounds of post-rock bands like Sigur Rós. They don’t fill every space with noise, like many young bands tend to do. The songs reveal a Ride influence in the percussion and the way the guitars glitter and soar over a melodic bass line, the vocals ever so slightly in the background. But, here, too, the sophistication of the songwriting and the sensitivity to space are impressive, while the soundscaping is gorgeous and lush.

Adeline Hotel is the project of songwriter Daniel Knishkowy. New album It’s Alright, Just The Same was produced by songwriter/composer Will Stratton and is due out May 13, 2016 via Wild Kindness.
