Doron Monk Flake and Ari Sadowitz occupy a sonic space between Stevie Wonder and Soundgarden, with homages to Evil Dead thrown in for good measure. Formerly known as nerdcore outfit The Smyrk, Flake and Sadowitz combine playful lyricism and comic-book obsession with real rock chops, honed playing with the likes of Black Rock Coalition and Taking Back Sunday/Atlas Genius guitarist Matt Fazzi.
