NYC’s legendary old-school dance party comes to Central Park
This fest is all about liberation, in every sense of the word. Retaining the official distinction as NYC’s coolest old-school dance party extravaganza, The Freedom Party® (TFP) is the jubilant brainchild of merrymaking visionaries Herbert Holler, DJ Cosi and Marc Smooth. They got together in 2003 to create a space for people of all walks of life and ideologies to meet and harmoniously dance with euphoric abandon. Paper Magazine awarded TFP with 2010’s “Best Party (People’s Choice),” URB magazine gave them an honorable mention in the same category (nationwide) in 2012, and The Village Voice honored TFP with the “Best Dance Party” verdict in 2015. This pulsating celebration could not be contained solely to NYC, as a Chicago chapter took root in 2011, and has since been deemed the #1 party destination in the mid-west. Freedom keeps rockin’ strong in New York, with numerous monthly happenings, held at these expansive, famed venues and events: One Step Beyond/American Museum of Natural History, Midsummer Night Swing/Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Botanic Garden Spring Gala, 1st Saturdays/Brooklyn Museum, Celebrate Brooklyn/Prospect Park, and, of course, SummerStage in Central Park.
