Cano Estremera

Cano Estremera
Carlos Enrique Estremera Colón is a Puerto Rican Salsa singer from San Juan, nicknamed “El Cano” (“The Light-Colored Haired One”), due to his albinism. Estremera developed his talent as a singer while residing in a public housing complex in the area of Santurce, and acknowledges Puerto Rican jíbaro country singers as a strong influence. He developed a reputation for being a fast and clever improviser, in the same vein as Marvin Santiago, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and other salsa singers who could improvise dozens of soneos on the spot. Estremera recorded six albums with Bobby Valentín before starting his own band in 1984. He has been recording and touring ever since.
