Punk Island 2009 featured 70 punk bands on Governor’s Island. This crustfest was also part of Make Music New York, which had taken place on the same day. Punk Island is different than the punk festivals I went to back-in-the-day since they had the 12 stages organized by genre. You would think crusty punks wouldn’t ever go through the trouble of being so organized.
